Partners for 65 years, the French Navy (Marine Nationale) and Tudor have left their mark on the luxury watch market with resolutely pioneering models that combine elegance and functionality in a 100% French design.
Today, this partnership built on trust has given rise to a new model, developed from a set of highly demanding specifications: the Pelagos FXD. By looking back at the beginnings of an association that has marked several generations, discover this exceptional model in a preview, developed and offered for your selection by Tudor.
While the French Navy has formed many partnerships over the decades with prestigious watchmakers, the one it has forged with our brand is unquestionably the oldest, most famous and most prolific. As early as 1956, the G.E.R.S. was entrusted with the Oyster Prince Submariner for real-world testing. References 7922 and 7923, the first of which was one of the earliest self-winding models, offered water resistance to 100 meters, which quickly won them the favor of the commander of the time. Judging them "perfect," he placed several orders between 1956 and 1961 to equip his sailors. His renewed confidence in our savoir-faire earned us the honor of becoming "official supplier to the French Navy" in 1961. While the most widely used model was, of course, reference 9401, many models were delivered from the 1960s to the 1980s, and they remained part of the official equipment until the end of the century. Even today, it is not uncommon to see our creations on the wrists of Navy veterans. To honor this emblematic partnership, and in collaboration with the French Navy's combat swimmers, we are proud to present the Pelagos FXD.
The Tudor Pelagos FXD: a high-end model with new functions
With fixed strap bars, the Pelagos FXD features new functions designed for wear in extreme conditions. Its 120-click rotating bezel is bidirectional and graduated in reverse from 60 to 0. Not conforming to the ISO 6425 standard, this elegant watch is designed for "navigation by successive headings" to meet the needs of combat swimmers.
In the same spirit, its 42 mm titanium case offers water resistance to 200 meters, along with a matte finish that reduces light reflections. Its Manufacture Calibre MT5602, coupled with a non-magnetic silicon balance spring, earns it COSC chronometer certification, offering a variation of -2 / +4 seconds in the rate of the fully assembled watch. Last but not least, its 70-hour power reserve makes it a "Weekend Proof" watch.
Tudor Pelagos FXD watch: an elegant strap and design
Equipped with a variable-inertia balance held by a sturdy full-bridge with two anchor points, the Pelagos FXD comes with a woven polyethylene strap (22 mm) in the colors of the French Navy. Fitted with a titanium buckle and a self-gripping fastening system, it adapts effortlessly to all wrist sizes without compromising everyday comfort.
New from Tudor: for the first time, our Pelagos FXD comes with an additional rubber strap with a pin buckle. This softer, more comfortable strap is perfect for those who prefer a discreet, lightweight feel on the wrist.
