The Land-Dweller

Opening New Horizons
Reimagining the present to shape the future. With the Oyster Perpetual Land-Dweller, Rolex opens a new chapter in its history. This contemporary watch represents the pinnacle of the brand’s expertise today, the result of over a century of horological mastery. It is designed for women and men who take their place in the world and forge their own destiny, turning every moment into an opportunity. Featuring a bracelet that seamlessly integrates with the case, this sleekly designed watch houses a revolutionary caliber. With an innovative escapement and a novel oscillator, the movement is engineered to operate at a high frequency of 5 hertz, delivering exceptional performance in all conditions. In total, the Land-Dweller incorporates 32 patent applications, 18 of which are exclusive. Embodying numerous horological achievements, created by those shaping the future of watchmaking, the Land-Dweller is for those building the world of tomorrow.
Innovation in Motion
The Land-Dweller is equipped with a cutting-edge self-winding movement: Caliber 7135. Fully developed and manufactured by Rolex, it incorporates major innovations covered by 16 patent applications. Despite being slimmer than most Rolex movements, it delivers remarkable performance.
Dynapulse: A Revolutionary Escapement
The most significant innovation, the Dynapulse escapement of Caliber 7135, provides a revolutionary alternative to the traditional Swiss lever escapement. Using a sequential distribution system covered by seven patents, energy transmission occurs via rolling. A transmission wheel connected to the barrel drives two distribution wheels with a unique design. These, in turn, activate an impulse lever that sustains the balance wheel’s oscillations. Made primarily from silicon components and benefiting from a novel architecture, the Dynapulse escapement offers multiple advantages: ultra-lightweight components, near immunity to magnetic fields, and significantly higher energy efficiency compared to a conventional escapement.
Avant-Garde Oscillator
The oscillator of Caliber 7135 resists strong magnetic fields thanks to the materials used in its construction. It features an optimized brass balance wheel and a balance staff made from a high-tech ceramic, exclusive to Rolex and laser-sculpted—a first for the brand. Paraflex shock absorbers positioned on either side of the staff enhance shock resistance in all orientations.
5-Hertz Frequency
Equipped with a silicon Syloxi hairspring, the oscillator beats at 36,000 vibrations per hour (5 hertz), measuring time to the tenth of a second. This high frequency maintains chronometric precision regardless of the wearer’s activity. While higher frequency requires more energy, Caliber 7135 offers a comfortable power reserve of approximately 66 hours, thanks to the Dynapulse escapement. The movement also boasts exceptional finishing, visible through the transparent case back, highlighting the yellow gold rotor and the Côtes de Genève decoration on the bridges.
New Perspectives
The Land-Dweller reinterprets integrated bracelet design with a modern spirit. Explored as early as 1969 with the Rolex Quartz and in 1974 with an automatic Datejust, this design creates a seamless aesthetic link between the bracelet and case. Featuring a striking honeycomb-patterned dial, the Land-Dweller is offered in two sizes—36 mm and 40 mm—and is available in gray Rolesor, 18 ct Everose gold with an intense white dial, or platinum 950 with a glacier blue dial.
Flat Jubilee Bracelet and Redesigned Oyster Case
The bracelet flows seamlessly into the case, emphasizing continuity between the two elements. The redesigned, slim Oyster case extends to reveal the new Flat Jubilee bracelet. The visual fluidity is enhanced by alternating brushed and polished finishes, while polished chamfers on the case and bracelet edges create striking lines of light.
Honeycomb Dial Pattern
The Land-Dweller’s identity is revealed through its dial details. Surrounded by a sloped flange, the face features a subtly raised honeycomb motif. On Chromalight versions, open numerals and luminous indices ensure optimal legibility in all conditions. The specially designed luminous hands complement the dial. Elegant yet technical, clean yet contemporary, the Land-Dweller offers a universal appeal suitable for any occasion.
