TTUDOR, Official Timekeeper of the 2023™ Rugby World Cup
As part of its long-standing partnership with World Rugby™, TUDOR is the Official Timekeeper of the Rugby World Cup 2023™, which will take place from September 8 to October 28 in France.
TUDOR is the Official Timekeeper for all 48 matches to be played by 20 teams across nine venues in nine different cities. The Rugby World Cup 2023™ is taking place in the same year the sport celebrates the 200th anniversary of its creation, attributed to William Webb Ellis, a young student at the school in the town of Rugby who gave his name to the game.
Rugby is a no-compromise sport that places boldness at the heart of its values, perfectly reflecting the spirit that has driven TUDOR since its creation.
With 30 players clashing at high intensity on the field to score a try against their opponents, rugby is the ultimate team sport. A blend of speed, strength, and daring, it requires true cohesion. As defenses become increasingly well-organized, direct contact is not always the best approach—hence the importance of developing a more fluid and unpredictable style of play. Although the sport has gained immense popularity over the past twenty years, it has never lost its authenticity. Whether it’s the respect shown to opponents and referees on and off the field, rugby has managed to preserve its spirit of teamwork and camaraderie.
It is these noble values and the spirit of daring embodied by the sport—reflected in TUDOR’s uncompromising attitude since 1926—that led the Swiss watchmaker to partner with World Rugby™ in 2017 as part of its #BornToDare campaign. In addition to supporting the Men’s and Women’s Rugby union World Cups and the Rugby World Cup Sevens, TUDOR also sponsors the annual World Rugby U20 Championship, which serves as a springboard for the rising stars of the sport. TUDOR is also a partner of the World Rugby Awards, which each year recognize the best teams, players, and match officials of the season. Finally, TUDOR supports the World Rugby Hall of Fame—an institution established in Rugby, United Kingdom, the town where the sport was born in the 1820s—to honor those who have contributed to the game’s global renown.
